Haiku originate from Japan. They are small and subtle, precise and concentrated. Each Haiku is just three lines, grouped into 5, 7, and 5 syllables. Normally their themes have a pastoral hue.
Senryu
The Senryu has the same structure a Haiku. But the subject matter is different. They tend to be about people and their foibles. Unlike the Haiku, the Senryu is allowed to be funny.
